Welcome to UNSW Young at Heart Program

UNSW Health and Exercise specialists recommend regular exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle. Allied Health professionals agree that being active promotes longevity and is particularly important as we get older. Regular exercise can:

  • Improve Bone density
  • Prevent/manage arthritis
  • Improve joint mobility
  • Improve strength
  • Increase muscle tone
  • Increase metabolic rate
  • Improve balance
  • Increase core strength
  • Promote relaxation
  • Increase cardiovascular endurance
 

Places are limited to 15 so book early to avoid disappointment

Over 50’s Brochure

UNSW classes for participants over 50 years of age are specifically designed to meet the needs of the older adult. Expect to participate in a group of 15 – 25 likeminded people who are also committed to improving their health and fitness.

Our group fitness instructors are fully qualified and are experienced in teaching special populations. They will be mindful of your medical conditions and encourage you to exercise at an intensity with which you feel comfortable.

Class choice should be made with consideration of your current medical conditions along with the goals you wish to achieve from your exercise program.

While physical benefits of each class will vary, the social benefit from exercising in a fun, friendly environment is common across all of our classes.
