Sports Scholarship Applications Closing Soon

Applications for Sports Scholarships under the Elite Athlete Support Scheme (EASS) close on the 11th of  December 2009.

The EASS incorporates the Ben Lexcen Sports Scholarship program and High Performance and Club Scholarships, and is a recognised program under the Australian Sports Commission's Elite Athlete Friendly University scheme.

The EASS recognises and supports elite athletes in their endeavours to achieve at elite sport as well as their academic program.

2009 marks 21 years since UNSW developed the first university sports scholarship scheme in Australia. Founded in 1988, the Lexcen Fund has continued to grow and now awards over 40 scholarships as part of the EASS, and UNSW Sport and Recreation supports an additional 60 or more student athletes for their training and academic needs.

A sports career has a limited time span. UNSW believes it is important that athletes who are able to achieve academically should not have to choose between academia and sport.
By providing a flexible and responsive approach to study and with financial and personal support, elite athletes representing UNSW can achieve in both academic and sporting fields.
